Top 10 Newborn Essentials.

When I had my first son there were so many items I was told I needed. By the time I got to my third child I feel like I have a good idea of what I need and what I don’t. These are the items I use the most with my newest little one.    Owlet Baby Monitor is a heart rate and oxygen monitoring sock. The baby wears it just like a sock and it interacts with an app on your mobile device that displays the baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels in real time. After having a premature baby […]

Dear preemie parents…

I want to start off by saying you’re doing a great job. You are probably overwhelmed with machines, and tubes, and IV lines connected to your tiny and extremely fragile baby. You are most likely running on very small amounts of sleep and large amounts of caffeine. Calling the NICU every time you can’t be there to snuggle your precious baby. You are scared to death when you hear the words brain bleed, acid reflux, Ng tube, spells, episodes, emesis, surgery. I remember walking rolling into the NICU for the very first time and seeing my small baby connected to […]

Strep throat, really?

So for the last two years my hubby has gotten strep throat at least six times. He is what they call a carrier. He even has an appointment in a week to see the ear, nose, and throat specialist to remove his tonsils. Out of all the times he has contracted strep throat. I have never gotten it… until yesterday.  One long ER trip later with princess ( to ensure she didn’t have anything bothering her) it was confirmed that I sure enough have strep(but she was fine!). A penicillin shot in my ass and two Percocets later, I’m still […]

My Journey to Motherhood.

First Pregnancy In 2012 at the age of 17, I gave birth to a 6lb 11oz baby boy. My pregnancy was the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, an extreme illness that made me not able to keep food down. Keeping water down without vomiting was a challenge. I ended up in the ER to replenish my fluids about once a week. My diet consisted of Phenergan (an anti-nausea prescription) and Pedialyte, and I lost a total of 30 pounds throughout my pregnancy. I didn’t start feeling better until 20 weeks. I delivered on […]
