5 Things To Do On Your Birthday… Alone.

When you’re a kid, a teen, and a twentysomething, birthdays only require one ingredient to be awesome: loads of people. That’s the secret to a birthday celebration. Yes, there will be cake, and your fruit shoot drinks will gradually turn to shots, but the only thing that really makes the list is people. But as you get a touch older and start heading for your thirties and beyond, we all feel ready to switch things up a bit, whether we admit it or not. That is to say, we all think about opting for the solo route. Sure, this may […]

Tips for Traveling on the Cheap

This post contains affiliate links. For more information on our relationship with affiliate links click here. One day our family woke up and realized things weren’t how we wanted them to be. We weren’t happy and we were determined to find out why. We thought long and hard and realized it was because the world is so vast and we were stuck in one part of it. So many think that if they want to travel and see a new part of the world, they have to spend a lot of money. But that’s not true at all. Even if […]

Great Summer Festivals You Have To Celebrate

This post contains affiliate links. For more info check our disclaimer. Summer is a time of year that we love to celebrate. We celebrate by having a barbecue with our friends, we celebrate birthdays out and about, and we celebrate national holidays by having street parties and putting on fairs as a community. Summer truly is a time for getting outside and celebrating with a class of vintage champagne from Oddbins, and there are even more things to celebrate than you might have thought! We have a hunger inside of us to travel and see as many awesome locations as we can. There’s Nothing Better Than A Family Camping Trip!

If you’re thinking about going on holiday, why not think about going on a family camping trip! People are always so quick to jump on the bandwagon of going to a far-flung destination, or going to a beach location when the best holiday to be had is a camping one. It’s a much more personal experience, and so many people enjoy the fact that it’s a cheaper holiday, with some better experiences. Camping with the family gives you great experiences and allows you to bond that little bit more as a group. It’ll make memories your kids will never forget, […]

Top Hotel Hacks When Traveling with Kids

Us at the Howard Johnson in Downtown Albuquerque NM. Traveling with kids is tough at any age. When they’re babies, you worry about keeping them safe and taking everything that you could need in every conceivable situation. Then, when they’re a little bit older, you have to deal with toddler tantrums in new locations and watch their every move as they enthusiastically explore their new surroundings without fear or inhibition. As they get even older, they start to push their boundaries and your patience. I don’t think travel with children ever gets any more comfortable, it just changes. But, that […]

What You Need In Your Disneyland Backpack.

Walking back to the hotel (especially with kids) is like doing the walk of shame as an adult.   Water Bottles:  You can get a free glass of water all over the park. So we fill up […]

3 Tips for Staying Safe When Traveling Abroad

As a traveling family who has never been abroad, I have created a collection of tips from seasoned travelers. When you think of travel, your mind probably summons up images of laughter, sun, sand, and joy, as you explore new locales and splash happily in the tropical surf of whatever island paradise your family has found their way to. You probably don’t think of getting mugged, or worse attacked, but unfortunately, there is always the risk of danger in everything we do in life, and travel is often a time when we’re more vulnerable than we would be at home. […]

Family Bonding: Camping at Navajo Lake State Park

Moving away from the NORM.  When I say camping most people’s immediate reaction is “eww”. As a culture, we have been so brainwashed into thinking our day to day life should revolve around work, technology, and simple pleasures (fast food, etc.). I have been on a mission to revert back to nature. I want my family and I to live a simplistic yet satisfying lifestyle. My kids love t.v. and video games and I want them to understand the beauty that this world has to offer.  We decided to take a weekend adventure and detach ourselves from societal norms and modern […]

Emergency Gastroenterology Trip.

Background: If you have not been in the loop, my daughter (born 9 weeks premature) has had vomiting issues since birth. She could not have my breast milk and was placed on an added rice formula to help her gain weight. Well once we stopped formula and transitioned to milk she began to lose weight. We were extremely concerned when she fell off the growth curve and landed in a hospital three hours away.  What happened? One afternoon our daughter was way more lethargic than usual. I called her doctor and said something needed to be done and it needed to […]
