It is 2019! How the heck did we already make it here? On a mission to change my lifestyle and be a healthier person, I have found five things to do daily that sets me up for a great day. Improving your wellbeing is something you can do all on your own. How we feel largely depends on the habits that have accumulated over time – and by the time we are 35, much of our habits and thoughts are exactly the same. This means that in one way or another, we’re repeating the same day/feelings/situations over and over again. People are just too stubborn (ME!) to change or realize that they need to. Some people don’t want to accept that it’s all down to them, and not the fault of anybody else.
With that in mind, here are 5 things you can do every single day to improve your wellbeing. Take a look and you should be living a happier, more satisfying, healthier life before you know it:
1. Get Some Exercise
Exercise is the first thing on the list – sorry, exercise-phobes! Exercise shouldn’t just be done as a way to ‘lose weight’ or ‘look better’. It can be great for those things, sure, but there are far, far better reasons to work out. Firstly, you should find that you feel happier after you’ve exercised thanks to the happy hormones released. Then, you should also find you have a more productive day afterward, with more mental clarity. In short: you’re going to feel like a badass machine! Now, even badass machines can become injured from time to time if they aren’t careful, so make sure you have a pro help you out at first if you’ve never stepped foot in a gym. If you do end up with an injury and you know it’s not your fault, then you’ll need a place like DiamnondInjuryLaw.com to help you. Don’t let the thought of being injured put you off – there are too many exercise benefits to ignore. I hear people say all the time, “I don’t have time”. That’s a bullshit excuse. If you have time to post on facebook or go shopping, you have 15-45 minutes to workout. Even a brisk walk with your kids or taking your children to the park and playing WITH them counts. Get out and do it. No more excuses.
2. Take Part In Work That Makes You Feel Fulfilled
Most of us have to work for a large chunk of our lives if we’re going to live comfortably and sample some of the luxuries that life has to offer. However, this doesn’t mean work needs to be miserable. Assess yourself. Assess your skills, qualifications, and personality, and find a role that suits you. Life is not all about money, money, money. I grew up in poverty and I always attributed success with money. Now I know that doing something I love, spending TIME with my family, and being comfortable (not rich) are what this life is all about. You can always make more money later, but you can never get back valuable time. I have a passion for helping women achieve the healthy labor and delivery they deserve, so I became a Doula. I also like to share my opinion (whether people want to hear them or not) so i started a blog. My blog has turned into a career that I can do on my couch in pajamas (don’t judge me! haha). Start your own blogging career by clicking here. Remember, it’s never too late to change direction, either!
3. Pay More Attention To How You Speak To Yourself
How you speak to yourself can play a huge part in how good you feel. Our words carry much more power than you realize. It is actually a mind trick. If you say something such as “I am worthless” over and over again no wonder you continue to feel that way. You should speak to yourself in your head how you would a friend. You wouldn’t tell your friend that they were fat, stupid, or ugly – so why would you say any of these things to yourself? Start by saying thing like “I am kind, I am smart, I am attractive”. Whether you believe these things or not (Hey! Fake it until you make it) it will eventually change your outlook on yourself and life in general.
4. Eat Colorful Foods
Now I’m not talking about purple poptarts or Red Dye-40. I’m talking about the beautiful array of naturally occurring colorful foods. Colorful foods will make you feel vibrant and alive. Fill your plate full of veggies and make sure you get some fruit in their too. A balanced diet is literally the key to your wellbeing. I’m not saying you can’t have the occasional sweet treat, but it needs to be just that, occasional. Do your research on nutrition!
5. Drink Water Like It’s Going Out Of Fashion
Water, water, and more water. Water is literally a part of all of us. Water can get rid of headaches, bring down bloating, help you to feel more alert, clear your skin, and do so much more. You should ensure you’re drinking around 2 liters of water per day as a minimum. Carry a big bottle with you so you don’t forget!
